Blog 5: Antiwar
Throughout history war has been a common event in which people have become highly familiar with when dealing with conflicts and other hardships. Wars have been fought, lives have been lost, and more people have developed a dream of peace within our world. Antiwar activists, in particular, have strongly voiced their opinions upon the subject of peace, stopping wars, and bringing the attention of the people to the truth of what is happening in our world. However, there are many people who can agree on the matter that antiwar activist’s websites and other articles are not heard of; one must specifically seek out this information in order to find anything on it at all. Perhaps this reasoning is because in certain cases these activist’s share their strong opinions that tell the truth of violence that is happening within our world that many people wish to block out or ignore all together. There is also the stand on the fact that antiwar activists shine a certain spotlight on the government to encourage them to stop war and conflicts, but this type of pressure is frowned upon. In other cases, antiwar activists create a discussion in which many people within our world can take part in and share in big numbers; which can create change that perhaps is not always wanted by everyone. I believe that together people can form large numbers to accomplish all sorts of change or bring attention to certain matters that need to be heard in the public. War cannot be seen as a “light” matter and therefore needs discussion on how to be avoided or what should be done surrounding the conflict in which presented it in the first place. Opinions, freedom of speech and other forms creating discussion should be heard of by the people in order to hear all sides, all options and to better educate oneself on what events are happening within our world.
